(#410) Structural Biology

For driven high school/undergraduate students, SkoolMentor is offering a unique 8-week opportunity to conduct remote research in structural biology with a research scientist affiliated with a prominent research university. The Mentor has extensive research experience in structural biology, biochemistry and biophysics research.

The potential topics of research could be Learning Structures of Biomolecules involved in several disease related pathways such as DNA repair and different metabolisms. During this training period students will learn about:

  • Protein sequence analysis
  • Protein structure analysis
  • How structure leads to certain function
  • Key aspects of structure-based drug designing
  • How to study scientific literature and present results

The researcher has served as a mentor for number of undergraduate students. The mentor can assist students to create a poster/presentation to be presented at science fairs and scientific conferences.

This is an excellent opportunity for students who are curious, driven, want to contribute to patient-oriented research and wish to learn cutting-edge web-based tools in biomedical research.

Opportunities such as these are also a great way for students to showcase the passion for STEM and stand out in college applications.
